Nature Knows Best
At Huis Van Mango, we believe in the honest beauty of natural materials. Each product we create is a celebration of real wood—its grain, color, imperfections, and life story. We work exclusively with Mango wood and Acacia wood, chosen for their durability, sustainability, and distinct character.
This page is your guide to understanding the origins of our wood, the natural variations you can expect, and how to care for your piece so it lasts a lifetime.
The woods we work with

Mango Wood
Mango wood has a warm, organic feel and a naturally varied grain, ranging from light honey tones to deeper browns and greys. Its expressive texture and tonal movement make it suitable for a range of interiors—from earthy and natural to contemporary and refined.
Natural Characteristics
Grain Pattern: Swirling lines, subtle curls, or long wave-like grains are all common. The grain may appear tighter or more open depending on the tree and cut.
Colour Variations: Natural Mango wood ranges from pale golds to rich browns with hints of yellow, grey, or pink. Even after finishing, slight variations may be visible.
Knots & Inclusions: Expect small knots, tiny cracks, mineral streaks, or healed scars from branches. These aren’t flaws—they are proof of nature’s hand.
Surface Texture: Some areas may feel smoother or rougher due to the density variations in the grain.
NOTE: No two pieces of Mango wood are alike. Each bears the mark of its journey—making every product uniquely yours.

Acacia Wood
Acacia wood is known for its bold, high-contrast grain and natural durability. With its deep honey-to-walnut coloring and smooth finish, it brings warmth and richness to any space. We use Acacia in its natural tone—untreated and unaltered—to showcase the material’s raw beauty.
Natural Characteristics
Grain Pattern: Acacia’s grain is bold and often features dramatic shifts between dark and light areas. The flow is dynamic, with pronounced veins and streaks.
Colour Variations: Ranges from warm honey-gold to deep walnut brown. Each board may display contrasting tones.
Knots & Inclusions: Visible knots, growth rings, and natural mineral deposits are common—and embraced.
Surface Texture: The wood may feature slight ridges or naturally uneven textures due to its grain density.
Hands that Shape Stories
In Jodhpur, woodcraft isn’t a job, it’s a legacy. Our artisans carry techniques passed down through generations. Every piece begins as a rough slab and is slowly transformed by hand, eye, and feel.
Joinery & Craft
-
Strong forms.
Traditional techniques.
-
Our artisans use time-honored joinery like dowels and mortise & tenon where needed—ensuring both strength and elegance. Some tools are modern. Many are traditional. All are guided by practiced hands and an eye for detail.

Finishing Process
A tactile approach.
Always by hand.
Our finishing process is slow and considered. Depending on the piece, it may include hand-sanding, cloth rubbing, and multiple rounds of oiling or waxing. This not only protects the surface but allows the natural tone and pattern of the wood to shine through.
